Cane Creek Preserve Photography Workshop


Early spring in Alabama brings with it the beauty of wildflowers and the majesty of waterfalls.  A great place to observe and photography this display of beauty is Cane Creek Preserve.    In early spring, wildflowers such as Virginia blue bells, trillium, jacob's ladder, trout lilies, and phlox carpet the forest floor. We will be photographing waterfalls and wildflowers throughout the day.  There will be six positions available for the workshop.

When: April 15, 2023

Where:  Cane Creek Preserve near Tuscumbia, Alabama

Cost:  $135

Positions available:  6 available


Workshop Schedule:

*6:00 a.m.-Meet at Cane Creek Preserve

*6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m- Photograph the waterfalls of the canyon.

*11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.- We will eat lunch at the cabin.  Bring your own lunch.

12:30-2:30 p.m.- Lightroom/Photoshop class at a local cabin close to the preserve.    Make sure to have Lightroom Classic and Photoshop loaded on your computer.

*3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. –  Photograph the wildflowers and waterfalls in the canyon.


What do bring:

Head lamp

dSLR

Tripod- required

Wide angle lens - not required

Mid-range lens- required

Telephoto lens- Required for wildflowers

Macro lens- not required but would be perfect for wildflowers

Shutter cable- not required but strongly suggested

Circular polarizing filter- recommended

Memory card

Extra batteries

Laptop- (not required) loaded with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop 

Circular diffuser for wildflower photography

Black foam board for wildflower photography.



Physical Requirements:

The trails we will be hiking are considered to be moderate. You need to be able to hike up and down inclines.  We will walk two or three miles of trails throughout the day.
